At North Hinksey we believe that every child is entitled to develop their critical and creative thinking skills and to build their knowledge and understanding of materials and techniques.
Through enabling children to think about the purpose of art and artists to all our lives we will ensure that they feel entitled to express and better understand themselves while building skills and knowledge through a combination of opportunities for repeated practice and new projects. The children revisit the following threshold concepts as part of our spiral curriculum:
- Develop ideas
This concept involves understanding how ideas develop through an artistic process.
- Master Techniques
This concept involves developing a skill set so that ideas may be communicated.
- Take inspiration from the greats
This concept involves learning from both the artistic process and techniques of great artists and artisans throughout history.
